What inspires you?

All people  have things that drive them, things that keep them moving forward. Sometimes when  a person is  out there chasing  dreams or attempting to achieve a goal, that person can lose sight of why they are making the attempt.

This is why it is good for a person to be able to define what it is that motivates them in the first place. By understanding the reason that the individual started the effort, that person can revisit the reason in times when the effort of achieving  the goal has obscured the inspiration for why they started.

Keep it simple, define for yourself what it is that has you taking the actions you are taking in your life. The best approach to this is to write it down. Put your reason on an index card and tape it to your mirror where you can see it every day when you are brushing your teeth. Write down your reason in a sentence or less, it's best to reduce it to a statement that you can repeat to yourself. here is an example; "I am exercising every day because I feel more energised when I am physically fit".

Don't over think it, just keep it simple, then the next time you're deep into that 20 mile bike ride or that 10 mile run and the pain is making you want to quit, remember what you have written down and how much more energy you have  throughout the day because of the your exercise program.

The main thing to grasp here is that by writing down your reason, you have taken something that was just in your head and given it physical form. Now that idea is a solid thing, written on a 3 by 5 card taped to your mirror, or your computer monitor or tattooed on your arm. Whatever route you choose, that idea is now something that you can reach out and touch, and that makes it a real thing.

Making your inspiration a real thing by writing it down helps you to make that dream you are chasing, or that goal you are trying to achieve, just as real as that 3 by 5 card.

Enjoy the trip,

Cheers.
