What does the World Wide Web say about you?

Let's say that you look your full name up on google, what do you see? Here is a link to google, go ahead and try it right now and see what others might see when they look for you online.

What do you see. The image that you see of yourself online can be used by recruiters to determine weather or not they want to offer you a job. If a hiring recruiter is looking for you online then most likely you have the  opportunity to advance your position and employment status by getting hired, and many times that's for a better job than the one you have.

We all want better. Better is always good, so how about improving your chances at securing a better
future for you and your family. Build a strong online picture of who you are, help recruiters discover why you should be hired for that better job.

What is a strong picture of a person online? What does that look like? Lets look at some people online and find out. Here is one place where people who you may not know much about, want to put their best foot forward in order to get hired for the top government job in the United States.

In this list of job seekers, I'm going to select the name of a person I know little or nothing about, then I'm going to look at them to see what kind of a candidate they are. I want to learn about weather or not I want to hire them for the job. I choose George Baily:

Here is the google search.

google images search brings Mr. Bailey in at number 10 from the top.

Google web search returns Mr. Bailey at the number two position.

What we don't find on George Bailey  is a georgebailey.com. The prupose of this post is to establish the importance of a strong internet profile or web presence, and although it is not my intention to criticize, I can't overlook that this possible candidate for the highest job in the land has not established what I  would call a strong first impression. Lets look at this profile page and see what is said about Mr. Bailey.

From the Article

George Bailey lives in the state of Mississippi. He is a highly educated and trained man, holding three degrees from as many schools and having completed a written dissertation for a Ph.D in Philosophy, as well as counting no fewer than 7 certifications to his name. His professional career has included military service, educational work, and business ownership. He is an ordained Christian Minister, and has spent a great deal of time in that capacity. Currently working as a pastor, he boasts that each of his two ex wives has accused him of being “a fool for God”; he credits them for their truthfulness.
Bailey suffers from a host of medical problems, including Type II diabetes, hypertension, and asthma. For these and other conditions, he takes a total of 12 prescribed daily medications. He claims that God has healed him of leukemia three times. He has undergone 18 surgeries in his life, 12 of them major, mostly relating to a car accident in which he was involved and seriously injured. Also because of the accident, he is legally handicapped, and must wear a custom brace on his left knee. Nevertheless, he lives an active life, walking every day and lifting weights three times a week.
Bailey is strongly conservative on a wide range of political issues. He is strictly pro-life on abortion, going so far as to accuse of “hypocrisy” those who support the practice while opposing capital punishment (Bailey himself does support the death penalty). He calls for the securing of the United States' national borders, with no amnesty for those present in the nation illegally, and the institution of a ten year probationary entry program subject to a host of requirements. He also decries American dependence on foreign energy, and faults “unelected bureaucracies” like the EPA for exercising virtually limitless power to hamstring US coal and oil drilling operations. He opposes any and all gun control, is against Obamacare, and believes that marriage was designed by God as an institution between one man and one woman.
Although any candidate is subject to the scrutiny of the voters, and much of your personal information would come to the public's attention in the end. A serious candidate should do their best to highlight their strengths in the landing page.

look at how Donald Trump, an established player on the public stage, is portrayed in his bio on the same page.

Declared 2016 Republican Presidential Candidate

Businessman, television personality and author
Donald John Trump
Born: June 14th, 1946  (age 69)

Donald Trump was born in the neighborhood of Queens in New York City, New York, to parents of German and Scottish descent. He earned academic honors in basic schooling, where he also proved a gifted student athlete, before going on to study first at Fordham University and then at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated in 1968, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.

Trump would go on to become a successful real estate magnate, where his determination and talent for business shone. Despite falling on hard times, challenges within the real estate market causing him to plummet from riches to a depth of destitution that prompted him to declare bankruptcy, he remained an active player in the industry, ultimately rebuilding his empire and earning back his lost fortune. His proclivity for public activity and his success in the public eye, particularly as host of his popular reality show “The Apprentice”, have made him a celebrity in the United States.

Never one to shy away from controversy, Trump had toyed with the idea of a Republican or even Independent presidential run on numerous occasions. He has had a tendency to service his image for these potential runs with extravagant public antics, such as his decision in 2011 to join the infamous ranks of nigh-universally conservative Americans who questioned President Barack Obama's birth within the United States. Dubbed “birthers” – they accused Obama of having actually been born in Kenya, and thus being constitutionally ineligible for the office of President. What his theatrics have unquestionably won him, however, is fame and popularity as a sort of entertainer, bolstering his sales as an author and his ratings on television.
Traditionally, Trump has avoided backing his public speculations of a presidential run with action – until June 1, 2015, when he formally announced his candidacy for the 2016 election. In his declaration, Trump criticized politicians, saying that while he loves them because “it's easy to make money with politicians,” he is frustrated by the fact that they say much and do little. He also decried illegal immigration, saying that he will inexpensively build a wall along the nation's southern border, and that he will have Mexico pay for its construction. Trump covered a few other bases, as well, promising that he will be tough on ISIS and stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. And in truly classic Trump shamelessness, he flaunts his vast financial wealth and compares it to other famously rich candidates, saying that he is more successful than Ross Perot and that he, quote, “has a Gucci store that's worth more than Romney.” Though his quest to win the presidency may be an uphill battle, his candidacy is certain to be entertaining, and to draw electorate interest in the 2016 presidential race.

Nowhere in his post does Mr Trump explain his medical conditions and how many prescriptions he's on. At this juncture I would say that Mr. Trump has projected a stronger image than Mr. Bailey.
